Exploring individual stories through art and music
Brush&Bow C.I.C is a platform for creative journalism and community engagement. We are a collective of artists, writers, journalists, researchers, musicians and social workers scattered around the world, working in collaboration to highlight individual voices within wider socio/political issues, working with citizen journalists to investigate the underlying stories behind the headlines.
Through the arts we create experimental spaces of collaboration, working with individuals and communities to develop spaces for in-depth insights and creative expression. We value the idea that there are multiple ways of engaging with an issue and telling a story; our activities range from music events to community-based workshops involving photography, animation and scroll-telling formats, to produce award winning journalism.
Brush&Bow’s approach to journalism incorporates both academic research and the arts as a central part of the process and the outcome, engaging with public debate to further the understanding of socio/political issues. Altogether, this serves to reveal the contrasting and often invisible stories behind the headlines, challenging negative stereotypes and fears.
