The Wind That Shakes: Monthly Music Event

The Wind That Shakes is a monthly music residency at Jam in a Jar in Harringay, North London, where we celebrate the power of music in times of resistance and as a vehicle to communicate individual stories and marginal narratives. We have been lucky enough to host a vibrant and diverse line up of musicians, which in turn serves to highlight and celebrate the variety of music that we are lucky enough to have in London!
Each event is free, but we collect donations for an upcoming Brush & Bow project called The Music Room, which will provide instruments and a space to play for musicians from displaced communities who may not have access to instruments or practice space.
Stay tuned for a parallel podcast, which will use recordings from these events alongside interviews with the musicians themselves discussing their respective musical traditions and instruments. Through this we explore how they tell their personal stories through the music they play, and the political and social context in which their music is situated.
